the story
When Robert Garcia was 2, his parents relocated the family from Cuba to West Tampa. Robert spent his childhood here, working alongside his family. His parents taught him the value of hard work, honesty, and doing every job with quality and pride. Robert’s first “paid” job was at the age of 15, when he worked in a West Tampa restaurant running food and cleaning tables. When he was 17 he had his first job in construction grouting floors for a local contractor. Little did he know that this job would fuel a passion that would last a lifetime.
Robert spent the next few years learning everything he could about tile and natural stone. He learned the nature and characteristics of each stone and the intricacies of stone setting from the artisan craftsman he came to know on the job.
In 1986, he decided it was time to take what he had learned and start working on his own. He purchased a building in West Tampa and Europa Stone was born.
Over the next 30 years Robert grew the business- making changes and additions to the building; adding countertops, tile and other new product lines, and establishing relationships with custom builders; designers, community leaders and homeowners that exist to this day.
The business has gone through several expansions; most recently in 2017, with the expansion of our showroom, and the addition of a consultation area for designers.
Throughout all the growth and changes, one thing has remained constant:
